STYLE RESEARCH & INITIAL SKETCHES
Initiating the design process involved a comprehensive exploration of each facet constituting a player's kit. Studying Natalie White and other players provided invaluable insights into the nuanced considerations inherent in the apparel choices of female basketball athletes. Conducting an in-depth examination of the current market landscape, particularly within the domain where Moolah is prominently featured in over 500 Dick's Sporting Goods outlets. This strategic review extended to an evaluation of existing product offerings within the category. Taking inspiration from the luxury space to incorporate design details aimed to elevate the final product.
Prototyping process
Upon finalizing seam lines and strategically marking their placement on the body, we conducted multiple rounds of prototyping in close collaboration with our team. The aim was to tailor a specific fit for female basketball players within the Moolah brand. A notable focus was on the design of padded compression styles, particularly addressing the functional aspects. A key factor during this prototyping stage was refining offensive padding, including careful consideration of optimal placement based on user preferences.
